    Community participation services

Assistance with Community (and Social) Participation is a form of funding under the NDIS Core supports category.  This assistance can be used to improve your ability to participate in community, social and recreational activities.

This includes things like support to attend community-based activities and assistance to participate in social groups. The activities may take place in a range of locations such as in the community, in a centre or at a sporting venue.

There are many benefits associated with being actively involved in and connected with your community. This assistance is designed to keep you connected and enjoy recreational or social activities within your community.

Cedar services knows the local community because we are a part of it. We connect you with support workers who best fit your needs and interests so you can build a positive relationship and feel at ease about exploring new opportunities with their assistance.

Whether you are interested in taking part in a new activity or hobby, meeting new people or simply getting out and exploring the world around you, we will help facilitate your goals so they become a reality. Our team will actively support you to make your own choices

    In-Home support

The NDIS can assist participants to live independently, and at cedar services we take great pride in providing our clients in-home support so they can maintain a standard of living that allows them to thrive.

We support participants and their families throughout the NDIS process: from incorporating in-home supports as part of their planning conversation to helping provide support practically to the best of standards.

We provide a wide variety of services in the in-home supports category, including personal care, domestic and household assistance including cleaning, meal preparation and household tasks and other forms of general assistance such as yard maintenance and much more.

    Capacity Building supports

Capacity Building supports are an important category of services under the NDIS approach. They are services that help people develop the skills they need to lead happy, independent lives.

Capacity Building is different from Core supports in that the funds are used to support goals that specifically build on your long-term independence. They are usually provided in addition to Core supports, which ensures that you can comfortably perform normal daily tasks.

For example, a Core support might be using funds for delivery of meals on a weekly basis, whereas a Capacity Building support will provide you with the knowledge, skills and education to prepare healthy meals yourself.

With so many goal categories and supports to choose from, it can be hard to decide exactly where you want to focus your efforts. That’s why it’s important to prioritise your needs early in your plan application or review, as your funding will be allocated between 9 different categories that dictate specifically how you use your funds. It is also why it is important to work with the right support network in the sector to ensure you are looked after in this regard.

Cedar services helps connect you with talented professionals in your area to provide a growing range of NDIS Capacity Building supports. This includes developmental educators, psychologists, counsellors and other therapists and specialists.

EmpowerU has the resources and experience to help you with the Capacity Building supports in your NDIS plan. Our team of highly trained support staff are also ready to support you so you can live more independently and achieve your life goals.
